Our Crazy Christmas Weekend

Every year after the holidays I look around and say, “Wow! That went by fast!” as most things do in life. Christmas is a lot like a wedding; you plan for a while before, make preparations, spend lots of money, get excited, and then in the blink of an eye it’s over! That’s why it is so important to enjoy life in the moment, and take lots of pictures of course!

We had a great Christmas weekend, and it was so much fun to see the excitement on James’ face on his 2nd Christmas. He didn’t totally understand what was going on, but he certainly loves Santa and still screams “ho, ho, ho!” when he sees someone in a red hat or jacket!

Saturday morning we woke up and I took on the challenge of packing the diaper bag, bags of presents, and the car for Chris’ parents’ house that evening. It was a nice, quiet morning as we all got ready for our party! I love family parties- we get to see people we haven’t seen in a while, eat tons of yummy food, and today we got to watch the kids open presents and do a fun grab bag with everyone. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no pictures from Christmas Eve! I guess we were having too much fun 🙂

Christmas morning was so magical, just as I remember them from being young. James woke up around 6:30 and we helped him open presents. Then my mom made us a delicious breakfast complete with bacon, quiche and cinnamon buns! After naptime we were off to another party, at my grandmother’s this time. We had a traditional Italian meal, with my traditional Italian family, and it was absolutely amazing. James loved running around and opening his presents, and Ella loved all the attention from her godparents, my cousins Paul and Grace. There is truly nothing better than family.

The thing about being married is you have to share. One of the things you have to share is holidays! It was hard for Chris and I to coordinate holidays at first, since both of our families get together on Christmas Eve and Christmas, and we are close to both of our families. We finally worked out a plan, and although the weekend was a little crazy, the kids had tons of fun with their families and cousins, and it was so worth the craziness.

I can’t believe it’s almost New Year’s! Stay tuned for my New Year, New You post with info about my new “side job” 🙂 Hope you all had a great Christmas!
