Good Morning! I feel like I haven’t exactly “had my ducks in a row” lately! Funny because James has been slowly changing his obsession with horses to an obsession with ducks! So fitting for Easter coming up :). I can’t wait to get this kid to a petting zoo soon!
We have all been sick for the last week, I am SO over this lack of spring weather, and I just feel blah. Not to mention I haven’t had much time to exercise while wiping noses and cleaning everything with these babies lately. That’s ok, I’m confident that we’re on the mend and almost out of this slump. The great thing is that I am home and don’t have to worry about taking time off work for sick kids, etc. and if we want to hang in our pajamas all day we can!
Here’s what has been going on here!
- This sweet little girl has an ear infection :(. The first one we’ve ever had! I feel so bad because she’s the happiest baby, even when sick. The worst part about sickness with two under two is the “sharing.” They don’t understand how to wipe their noses or stop germs from spreading! It’s inevitable that everyone will get sick in the house.
2. We’ve been eating a lot of eggs lately! I always seem to make excuses for cooking omelets because “it will take too long” etc. but it actually takes less time than making a frozen waffle sometimes! And it so good for you! My husband eats his hardboiled eggs every morning, James loves a scrambled egg with cheese, and I love veggie omelets.
This one has spinach, mushrooms and feta cheese. Yum!
3. We LOVE Usborne Books!
We love any book, but thanks to a great contest over at Sweet Tooth Sweet Life, we won free Usborne books for a year! I was SO excited about this! (Like I don’t have enough books, right?!) Usborne books are so great. They have a huge variety of types and age specific books, plus interactive books as well. James loves taking out a bunch of books and just looking at them on his own too, which is amazing. Also, I rotate often and keep the favorites out so there’s always something new and exciting. Recently he’s enjoyed picking out a book from the library too each week. The theme lately has been farms, surprise, surprise! Ella still likes to chew on her books!
4. Spring Crafts
Just because it doesn’t feel like spring doesn’t mean we can’t pretend! Yesterday we made cute butterflies using coffee filters. All you do is use cotton balls to sponge paint the coffee filters, making sure the paint isn’t too thick, then when dry use pipe cleaners to wrap around the coffee filter and create antennae. So cute and easy! We also glued one butterfly to a piece of paper to make a “spring scene.” Then I let him color the paper. It was so fun!
5. Peanut Butter Avocado Cookies
I found this awesome healthy cookie recipe on one of my favorite blogs, The Lean Green Bean. With ingredients like avocado, peanut butter, maple syrup and oats, these are right up my alley! Also toddler approved ;). We left out the chocolate chips because I gave it up for Lent and James doesn’t love chocolate anyway!
Well, that’s all for today! Hopefully we can get a walk in before the rain today. Enjoy your week, and let’s all pray for spring soon!
